Music has been an important segment in
humans’ life and somehow they are the only ones who like to create music from a
cluster of instruments and sing along. Whether it was in the ancient times of
Greece, Babylon or India or to current fads that exist in the now, music
continues to flourish and helps us spend considerable amount of time just
listening to it. From drums, sticks and strings, we have reached Electric,
Rock, Jazz, Classical and Latino besides so many others genres. We also moved
from radios to tape-recorders and now we have PCs, computer tablets,
smartphones and other music players. We have indeed faced and continue to face
a musical revolution that may go beyond the horizon.
Earlier, when mobiles
were first released with the microSD options we would select our favourite
songs, which then we would save in the allocated space. But the storage sizes
were small at the time and even though the storage size has increased now it
still isn’t enough what with all the apps, movies, videos, photos and other
unnecessary clutter. But now we have finally got a solution – online music
streaming and the apps that are providing streaming for free or at a price. But
yes, we do need connection like Wi-Fi or data plan to access the songs and plan
carefully in case of data usage. But that aside, among so many apps, which ones
are the best and provide amazing music service? What we have here are the
famous online music streaming apps and of course, there are many more. Since we
can’t mention all of them here – these come out as the ones regarded best by
many.
(1) Spotify:
This is one of the most famous and commonly used online streaming
app available on Play Store, App Store and Windows Phone. In this app, you can
browse for music using artist, album, record, genre, and direct searches in
case you don’t find what you’re looking for. The initial six months gives free
access to unlimited music and after that trial gets over, you can listen to
music for 10 hours in a month and 2.5 hours a week, which by the way gets
allocated to the next month in case you have some hours remaining. You can
increase that or make it unlimited but for that you would be required to pay
small fees per month.

(2) Soundcloud:
Once again, this is one of the best online streaming apps that
looks and works beyond the usual features. It lets a person endorse and
distribute the audio recordings by themselves. The artists can upload their
music with their exclusive URLs that then can be embedded and promoted via
Facebook and Twitter to let the audience like us access them easily. Some
artists can even collaborate if they want to. This app comes as a boon to many
for ease of use and access to favourite songs.

(3) MOG:
MOG is also known Music on the Go, has garnered
the attention for its unique music-themed social and blog network letting users
create profiles with information about their likes and tastes and favourite
genres. There are nearly 16 million tracks as per company’s claim and
subscribers can access those music files from various platforms like PC,
computer tablet and smartphones. Subscribers can also download their favourite
song, if need be, to play whenever they want to.

(4) Rdio:
Radio is made by the developers of Skype, this is an ad-free app available
to limited countries and has not reached our dear subcontinent. But no fear,
the website says that this service will come soon to India and why not? India
is one the biggest consumers that it won’t be long before we have access to
Rdio. Music can be played either online or by using cache if in case there is
no access to Internet. The library has a lot of content to browse through and
offers social networking to share their playlists and follow others. Now, it
supports movies and TV shows as well!

(5) Play Music:
The very owner of Android OS now has an app
that they have released recently named Play Music. You can play and share music
online and since Google is famous enough to have millions of songs to access,
this makes the deal even more interesting. You can also create custom radio
featuring your favourite songs, artists and albums and buy music to increase
the storage virtually.
